My First Day at the Beach: Sunset Beach, Cape Town SOUTH AFRICA

I could not understand why Sharkie and Boogie were so excited. We got out of Dads car and Mom carried me to this place where there was sand everywhere. My nose, my mouth, my body, everywhere! This place, the sand does not end... yuk!

Mom told me this was the beach and it is a place we will be visiting alot more in the future. Sharkie and Boogie were running around all over the place. They said it was gonna be fun. It was not only sandy, but wet too! my soft furr was getting wet - oh no! this must be a mistake. Im not too sure if I want to come back here again.

Aaaahhh noooooo, this water is making me feel so dizzy. I feel wheezy, I have no balance. Whats happening to the earth below my very balanced little body? First it was all the wind, and then all that sand, and now? ...All this water stuff, and it does not even taste nice!

Sharky was all over the place. Just watching her made me wheezy too.

The beach. Whats all the fuss about?

I love the beach but my local beach is pebbly, not sandy. Pebbles are good because you can pick them up and then drop them on your owners feet. Ouch! J x

Greetings Norman,
My name is Axel G Chocholoza - you may recognize that my 3rd name is also South African as my Mommy grew up in Joburg but then left and now we all live in Philadelphia, PA. Koobuss (sounds south african too don't ya think?) told me about your blog so I had to check it out. Mom says you are a very lucky pup to live in the beautiful Cape. When Mom was a little girl she had a wire fox terrier named Georgie and that is why she is a wire lover and as soon as she settled here in Philly she set out to find me. I live with my Mom and American Dad and I love my life. Please visit my blog!

Love,
Axel

Norman! Is that you? (in my best creepy old lady voice.) All that sand means there must be cats around. Better keep a look-out for them. And also be careful of the "real" Sharkies out there. They aren't as soft and cuddly. :-)

PS Do you know about the pet food recall in South Africa now??? The food is called Vets Choice. Please don't eat this if you have any!

Norman (aka Normie) said...

Hey guys yes!

thanks for that. My mom told me that when she gave me that stuff, my tummy was immediately upset afterwards. She stopped giving it to me - not even knowing about the fact that Vets Choice was so poisonous.

Boogie and Sharky also had some and their tummies were immediately runny too.

Now mom gives us Pedigree pellets, covered with a little tuna oil, and powder biltong all over it! Yummie! Do you all know what biltong is? Mom said its very South African. It is meat that gets dried out and then cut very fine like powder. You should try it sometime. Its really tasty.

Hi Norman!

I live in Montreal, Canada...sure wish that I was running on a sandy beach this morning...even a big boy like me wanted to come right back in...we had TONS of snow overnight...this morning, ice pellets...now it is just nasty windy rainy.

I will just park myself on the back o the sofa & watch the other dogs struggle through the weather & think about the beach. Woof!

What a great page!!! I just rescued a yr. old wire fox terrier, his name is Rowdy.
I grew up as a child with wire fox terriers. My parents have three and I am so thankful to of found Rowdy in the pound. His spirit was broken would not even play ball. I took him home any ways he is now as happy and playful as the fox terriers I grew up with as a child.
